| Authors | Petroleum Geological Analysis Ltd |
In 1995, Petroleum Geological Analysis Ltd and its partners produced an overview of the exploration potential of Iraq. Since that time a considerable amount of new data has become available on aspects of the petroleum geology (including from our own work) and geochemistry, plus new data on various hydrocarbon pools. In addition, 20 new composite logs for Iraqi wells are available, making a total of 62 wells which form the main basis of the report.
The report provides a concise overview of the petroleum geology of Iraq, based on the extensive new analysis we have completed and our thorough regional experience. The accompanying data base includes field summaries, composite logs for 62 wells, plus show, test and formation tops tables for many more (see map and listings). The wireline log data are provided in LAS format. Show, DST and formation-tops data are provided as digital format as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Maps presented as PDF enclosures are also provided as digital GIS data sets in MapInfo Export format.
AIMS OF THE REPORT
- To provide an up-to-date overview of the petroleum geology of Iraq relevant to hydrocarbon exploration
- To assess the various plays and their exploration merit and indicate, in general terms, the remaining potential of each play and area
- To place the assessment in the context of possible Iraqi plans for exploration and development
- To provide a comprehensive up-to-date data base of well and other data in digital format, to provide purchasers with a basis for more detailed assessments of areas and plays.
REPORT FORMAT
The report is provided in entirely digital format on CD, as a series of hyperlinked PDF files and Excel spreadsheets.
